Does invisible work that's undone by tomorrow actually matter?

You keep the grounds immaculate, and by tomorrow the wind and the seasons have half undone it, and no one noticed it was done at all. To ask whether that matters is fair. But work does not have to last forever, or be seen, to be worth doing. The people who walk those grounds move through a calm and order you made, whether they know your name or not. Much of the most important work in the world is like yours, undone daily and done again: cooking, cleaning, caring, tending. It matters not because it stands like a monument but because life would be poorer and harsher without it. Invisible is not the same as worthless. It is often the opposite. If you want more than the private knowing, leave a small mark that outlasts the day. Plant something slow-growing, teach a newer worker your craft, take quiet pride in one corner done exactly right. The seasons will keep undoing the work. That you kept doing it well, season after season, is itself the thing that mattered.
