How do I cope with a job that treats me like a machine?
The quotas never stop. Your body aches all the time. And you feel less like a person than a unit being tracked, measured, and pushed. That wears down more than the muscles. It wears down the spirit, because being treated like a machine slowly makes you feel like one. It is right to name how much that hurts. Hold onto this, because they cannot take it: a system can track your output, but it cannot touch who you are. You are a person with a mind, a life, people who matter to you, thoughts entirely your own. The counter on the wall does not define you. It measures one narrow slice of your day and knows nothing of the rest. Keep that line clear in your head, that you are the person, not the number the system sees. Then protect the body that is carrying you through this. Take the breaks you are owed, every one. Tend to the aches before they become injuries, because no quota is worth your health. And where you safely can, look toward work that treats you like a human being, even if that door opens slowly. You deserve to be more than tracked. Do not let the job convince you otherwise.
