How do I deal with being blamed for things I can't control?
You get blamed for shortages and problems that were never in your hands, and the powerlessness of it eats at you. That is one of the most demoralizing things at work, being held responsible for what you cannot control. Your frustration is the honest response of someone being treated unfairly. There is an old, freeing idea here: separate what is up to you from what is not. The supply chain, the staffing, the decisions from headquarters, not yours. Your effort, your honesty, how you carry yourself, yours. When you stop tying your peace to things outside your control, the blame loses some of its grip. It still stings, but it no longer defines you. When the blame comes, answer plainly: here is what I did, here is what was outside my control. Say it without shame and without taking on what is not yours. You cannot stop people from pointing fingers. You can stand on the clear ground of what you actually did, and that ground holds.
