How do I deal with doing important work no one sees?
You are good at making decisions solid enough to hold up under scrutiny. But the work that wears you is quieter than that: the decisions no one watches you make, the judgment calls that happen inside you and leave no visible mark. You carry the weight of choosing, and the world only ever sees the result, never the choosing. That can hollow a person out over time. It helps to name what is actually happening. The invisibility is not because your work is small. It is because the hardest part of it, the weighing, the deciding, the responsibility, happens in a place no one else can see. People see the smooth outcome and assume it was easy. They cannot see the version where you chose wrong, because you did not. You may not get the recognition, but you do not have to let the work vanish even from your own eyes. Keep a quiet record for yourself of the hard calls you made and how they turned out. Not for anyone else, for you, so that on the heavy days you can look back and see that the unseen work was real and it was good. Let your own witness be enough when no one else's is there.
