How do I explain something so my audience actually gets it?

You can make it clear to yourself. The harder art is making it land for someone whose head does not work like yours, who knows different things and cares about different things. That gap is real, and feeling stuck at it means you have stopped thinking about the work and started thinking about the person. That is the right move. Understanding is not about showing everything you know. It is about meeting someone where they stand and walking them one step. The question is never how do I say all of this but what does this particular person need, and what can they already see. Clarity for you and clarity for them are two different jobs. So before you build the next thing, name your audience out loud: who are they, what do they care about, what one thing must they walk away with. Cut everything that does not serve that one thing. You are not dumbing it down. You are aiming it.
