How do I figure out what to do first with a full patient assignment?

One patient, you handle beautifully. A full assignment feels like drowning because every task shouts at once and none of them wait their turn. That overwhelm is not a sign you are the wrong person for this. It is the sign of someone who cares and has not yet built the sorting habit. The drowning comes from treating everything as equally urgent. It is not. Some things must happen now or someone is harmed. Some things matter but can wait an hour. Some things only feel urgent. Learning to tell these apart is the whole skill, and it comes with reps. At the start of your shift, write your tasks down and mark each one now, soon, or later. Look at only the nows first. Getting it out of your head and onto paper stops the noise. You are not failing at a full load. You are learning to sort it, and that is a skill you can build.
