How do I fix a system when the manual doesn't cover the problem?

You can follow the manual well, but when a system fails in a way the book never described, you are stuck. That is the exact edge where following instructions ends and real diagnosis begins. The manual can only list what its authors imagined. The world produces failures they never thought of. Getting stuck there does not mean you are behind. It means you have reached the place where the craft actually starts. When the book runs out, you fall back on understanding how the system works, not just what the steps say. If you know what each part is supposed to do, you can reason about which one is not doing it, even with no page to tell you. Trace it logically: what is working, what is not, what connects them, where the chain breaks. That reasoning is a skill you build by asking why a system behaves as it does, not only how to follow its steps. Next time you are stuck, set the manual down and ask yourself how the system is supposed to work, then figure out where reality departs from that. Reason from how it works, and you can solve problems no book ever listed. That is what separates a technician from a parts-changer.
