How do I go deeper in my photography genre?

You have found your genre. You know what you shoot. But pushing past competent into real depth, the kind that makes your work unmistakably yours, still eludes you. That is the longest stretch of any craft. Getting good is fast compared to getting deep. Depth does not come from more variety or new gear. It comes from going further into the same thing, asking harder questions of the subject you already know. What have you not tried to say with it? What do the masters of your genre see that you walk past? Depth is repetition with attention, not novelty. Pick one narrow project inside your genre and stay with it far longer than feels comfortable, past the point where it gets easy. The depth lives on the other side of boredom, where you stop making obvious images and start finding what only you would notice. Go narrow and go long. That is where your voice is waiting.
