How do I let go of regret over burning a bridge early in my career?
Early on you left something badly, said too much, damaged a relationship or a reputation, and you are still carrying it. That one moment has shaped how some people see you, and how you see yourself, for far longer than it ever deserved to. The weight you feel is real, but notice how much of it you are the one still adding. The person who burned that bridge was younger, with less judgment and less to lose than you understood at the time. You are not that person now; the regret itself is proof of how much you have grown. Carrying it forever does not repair anything. It just quietly punishes a present-day you for something a past-you did, long after the lesson has been learned. If a real amend is possible, and it sometimes is even years later, a simple honest message can lift more than you expect. If it is not, then let the debt be paid by who you have become. Forgive the younger version enough to set the weight down. That early moment taught you something. Let it stop being a sentence you keep re-serving, and let it be a lesson you already carry well.
