How do I make peace with a job that keeps me from home?
You can put this rig anywhere. You have mastered a demanding craft, and it has cost you home, the years on the road bought with time you cannot get back. Both things are true, and holding them together is a quiet grief many drivers carry alone. Do not let the mastery blind you to the cost, or the cost erase the mastery. You built a real skill and likely provided for people you love. And you paid for it in missed dinners and empty seats. Naming both honestly is healthier than telling yourself it was all worth it or all a waste. It was neither. It was a trade, made by a person doing his best. Look at the road ahead as much as the road behind. If the price has grown too high, ask what could change, more home time, a different route, an eventual shift. If this is the life you choose, choose it with open eyes and make the time at home count double. The years on the road were real. So is the man who can still decide what the next ones look like.
