Tie your work to what they already care about: people who stay instead of leaving, teams that perform better, leaders who were ready when it counted. Track it, name it, show it. Evidence protects your work far better than passion alone. And do not wait for permission to invest in yourself, because it may not come. Grow your own skills the way you grow everyone else's: on purpose, a little at a time. Read, learn, build a network, find a mentor outside your walls. You spend your days filling other people's cups.
