How do I serve both safety and justice without betraying either?

You hold your power as a trust, serving safety and justice together and refusing to let one betray the other. That is the whole difficult center of the work. When a moment forces them apart, slow down and ask what serves both, not just the one that is easier to defend later. Often there is a path that honors each, if you refuse the false choice long enough to find it. Holding that line, call after call, is how you keep the trust you were given.
