How do I speak up when someone pressures me to rush unsafe work?
You have your own safety down. That is the foundation. Speaking up against pressure is harder because now it is not just skill, it is nerve, and standing against a crew or a customer in the moment takes real courage. Struggling with it does not make you weak. Here is the thing worth holding onto: the person pushing you to rush will not be the one who pays if it goes wrong. You will, or someone next to you will. A few seconds of awkwardness is nothing against an injury that lasts. The discomfort is temporary; the harm is not. Small step: get one plain line ready to say without thinking, like give me a minute, I am not doing that unsafe. Practice it so it is there under pressure. You already keep yourself safe. This is just extending that same protection out loud, to everyone on the job.
