How do I stop comparing my work to the best in the world?

You hold your work up against the very best, the top expert, the flawless example, and beside them your own effort always looks small. It is a losing game by design. When your only benchmark is perfection, or the finest that has ever existed, you have guaranteed that you will never once feel you are good enough. There is something almost unfair in what you are doing to yourself. You would never judge a friend this way, demanding they match the greatest in the world before you granted them any worth. The best in the world are the wrong measuring stick, not because you should aim low, but because comparison to them tells you nothing useful about whether your own work is good, growing, or valuable to the people it actually serves. Swap the benchmark. Measure your work against where you were a year ago, or against whether it genuinely helped the person in front of you. Those comparisons are real, and you can actually win them. Aim high, keep learning from the best, but stop using them as the bar you must clear to feel adequate. The point of your work is not to beat the greatest who ever lived. It is to do good, honest work that gets better over time, and by that measure you are very likely doing fine.
