How do I stop resenting coworkers whose standards are lower than mine?
Your standards run higher than those around you, and it leaves a steady hum of resentment at the work they hand in. That is a lonely place to sit. Caring deeply about quality is a strength, but when it curdles into constant irritation, it wears on you more than on anyone else. Consider what the resentment assumes: that others see what you see and simply refuse to reach it. Usually that is not true. People have different training, different priorities, different limits of care. Your standard is yours; it is not the water everyone swims in. Holding them to a bar they never agreed to will only keep you bitter. You have two better moves than stewing. Where the quality genuinely matters, teach it plainly instead of silently grading them. Show the standard, explain why it matters, ask for it. And where it does not truly matter, let it go on purpose. Save your high bar for the things that deserve it, and spare yourself the rest.
