How do I stop using the people I work with?

The honest thing here is that you noticed. Most people who use others never feel it. You have caught yourself treating people as steps toward what you need, and you did not mean to, and it bothers you. That discomfort is your conscience working, and it is the beginning of the fix. Using someone and serving them can look almost the same from the outside. The difference is inside you. When you use a person, you see only what they can do for you. When you serve them, you also see them, what they need, what it costs them, who they are. You do not have to stop asking things of people. You have to start seeing them while you do. Try this. Before your next ask of someone, pause and think of one thing that is good for them in it, or if there is nothing, say the ask plainly and thank them like it cost something, because it did. Do that daily and the habit of seeing people grows back. You will still work with them. You will just no longer work them.
