How do I stop waiting for consensus and just decide?

Meanwhile the problem sits unsolved and the people around you learn that nothing moves until everyone is comfortable — which is to say, it barely moves at all. Pick one decision you have been circulating and set yourself a deadline to make it alone. Gather input, then close the door and choose. Tell people it is decided. The discomfort you feel is not a sign you did it wrong. It is the ordinary weight of leading, and it is yours to carry.
