How do I teach people to find and navigate information?

Finding a book yourself is one thing. Teaching someone else to navigate information is another, and it is a real craft. When you search, you rely on instincts you have stopped noticing. Teaching means slowing down and making those hidden instincts visible to someone who does not have them yet. The trap is doing the finding for them, because it is faster and you are good at it. But that teaches nothing. People learn by fumbling with a little guidance, not by watching an expert. Your job is to resist rescuing them too soon and instead show them how you think, step by step. Next time someone asks for help, narrate your own process out loud as you go. Say why you start here, why you rule that out, how you judge a source. Then hand them the next search and let them try while you watch. Teaching is showing your thinking, then stepping back.
