How do I turn product knowledge into a solution for a customer's needs?
You know the product inside and out. But taking a customer's messy, specific needs and shaping a real solution from them overwhelms you, and that is a different skill entirely. Knowing what your product does and knowing how to fit it to someone's actual problem are two separate things, and the second one is learned, not obvious. The shift is to stop starting from the product and start from the customer. Their world, their problem, what success looks like for them. Once you truly understand what they need, the solution becomes a matter of connecting your product's pieces to their reality. The overwhelm usually comes from trying to design before you have fully listened. One step: before your next solution, spend the time to write out the customer's problem in their own words, then match features to it one need at a time. Understanding first, architecture second. It gets far less overwhelming when you build from what they need rather than what you sell.
