How do I use unit economics to actually make decisions?
You track your unit economics, so you have the numbers. The uneven part is turning them into action, letting them actually change what you do. Many people stop at measuring, treating the numbers as a report card rather than a compass. Knowing the figure is not the same as being guided by it. The shift is to attach the numbers to specific choices before you make them. What does it cost to win a customer, what do they bring back, and how does that change which customers to chase, what to charge, where to spend. The economics should be sitting on the table during the decision, not filed away after it. Pick one upcoming decision, like a pricing change or where to put marketing money, and run your unit numbers against it first. Let the figures argue for or against, out loud. Do that a few times and the habit forms. The value of the numbers is not in knowing them. It is in letting them decide the close calls.
