I'm tired that fewer people want to learn my trade

You have given your life to a craft that keeps people safe, and it wears on you to watch the line of new hands grow shorter. There is real grief in that, the fear that what you know so well might not be carried on. But your worth is not measured by how many follow you into it. The joints you weld hold today, and that matters whether or not the trade is fashionable. Skill this rare does not become worthless because it is rare. If anything, it becomes more valuable, more needed, harder to replace. If you want the craft to live on, be the reason one person learns it. Take on a single apprentice, or say yes the next time a young worker shows a spark of interest. You cannot fix the whole trend. You can hand what you know to one pair of hands. That is how every craft has ever survived.
