Is retail a real career or am I wasting my time?

You handle pressure, read people, solve problems on your feet, and keep things running. Those are real skills wherever you use them. The snobbery about retail says more about people's prejudice than about your worth. Decide for yourself what you are building. Maybe retail is your path and you climb it into management and beyond. Maybe it is a chapter where you are stacking skills you will carry elsewhere. Either way, stop letting other people's contempt write your story. Look honestly at where you want to go and take one real step toward it. Your worth was never up for their vote.
