Is staying at a job for the people enough?

The work does not move you anymore. What keeps you here is the people, the ones you sit beside, laugh with, trust. And you are wondering, a little uneasily, whether that is a good enough reason to stay, or whether you are just hiding a bigger question behind good company. Do not be quick to dismiss it. People are not a small thing. Many spend whole careers chasing meaning in the mission and find themselves lonely, while you have the thing that actually sustains most human beings, real connection. Work that gives you people you love is not nothing. For a season, it can be plenty. But ask yourself the honest follow-up, is the work itself draining you in a way the relationships cannot offset, or is it simply neutral while the people are good? If it is neutral and the people are good, you may have a fine arrangement, and you can stop feeling guilty about it. If the work is actively costing you, the relationships are a reason to stay a little longer while you look, not forever. Let the people be a real reason. Just be honest about what they are covering for.
