Should I trust AI screening and analytics in HR?
HR is filling up with AI, screening, analytics, chatbots, and you find yourself either distrusting all of it or leaning on it without a second thought. Both feel safer than the middle, but both hand away your judgment, one to suspicion and one to convenience. The work you do is too human for either. The honest position is that these tools are useful and fallible at once. They can process applications and surface patterns faster than any person. They can also encode bias and be confidently wrong about a human life. So you do not distrust them into uselessness or trust them into negligence. You use them, and you check them where the stakes are people. Pick the one AI tool you rely on most and, this week, audit one of its outputs by hand, really look at whether it is fair and right. That habit keeps you in charge. The machine can assist the process; the responsibility for people cannot be outsourced, and it lives with you.
