Something at work isn't okay and I feel powerless. What can I do?
If something is happening at work that you know isn't right, and you feel powerless to stop it, listen to that feeling. It is telling you the truth. What you are going through is not something you have to accept as the cost of a paycheck, and the powerlessness you feel is a symptom of the situation, not a fact about you. The first move is not to fix everything at once. It is to stop carrying it alone. Silence is what these situations feed on. Tell one person you trust what is going on, someone outside the situation who can help you see it clearly and remind you that you are not imagining it. Naming it out loud starts to break its grip. Then, quietly, begin writing down what happens, dates, details, who was there, and keep it somewhere safe. You do not have to know your final move yet. You only have to take the next honest step. You have more standing here than the powerlessness lets you feel, and you do not have to face it by yourself.
