What should I write in a thank-you email after an interview?

Send it within a day, keep it short, and make it specific. A thank-you note won't win the job on its own, but skipping it can quietly cost you one, and a good one keeps you in mind while they decide. Do three things: thank them for their time, mention one real moment from the conversation so it doesn't read like a template, and restate plainly why you're a good fit. A few sentences is plenty. Something like: 'Thank you for the time today — I enjoyed talking through [specific thing], and it made me even more confident I could help with [their need]. I'd welcome the chance to keep the conversation going.' Warm, specific, no groveling. Then let the decision be theirs.
