What do I do if I don't see how school connects to a real job?

Sitting in class with no line drawn between the work and any real future is a hollow feeling. It makes the effort seem pointless. But the disconnection you feel is common, and it is not proof that school is useless. It usually means no one has helped you translate what you are learning into what it is for. Much of what you are building is not the facts but the underlying skills: reading closely, solving problems, sticking with something hard, finishing what you start. Those transfer to almost any job you will ever hold. The specific subject may fade. The trained mind does not. That is the real product, even when it is invisible to you now. Still, you deserve a clearer thread. Pick one field that even mildly interests you and spend an hour learning what people in it actually do all day. Then look for the one class that touches it. Following even a faint thread of interest turns aimless school into something you are doing on purpose. You do not need the whole map. You need one connection you can see.
