What do I do when big decisions paralyze me?

When a decision touches a person's whole future, freezing is understandable. Paralysis is not weakness here. It is what happens when you feel the full weight of what you are deciding and refuse to treat it lightly. That seriousness is exactly what the role asks for. But a decision delayed is still a decision, and the person waiting deserves your judgment, not your silence. You will never feel fully certain, because certainty is not on offer in choices like these. What is on offer is doing your honest best with what is in front of you. When you freeze, narrow the ground. Set aside what you cannot know and focus on what you can: the facts before you, the range you are given, what a fair outcome looks like. Decide on that, then let it go. You are not asked to be perfect. You are asked to be fair, and then to carry it.
