What do I do when commanding feels overwhelming?
Command at your level is a lot to hold, and feeling overwhelmed does not mean you are not up to it. It means you see everything that rests on you. The scope is real. But overwhelm usually comes from trying to hold the whole thing at once in your head, instead of breaking it into the pieces you can actually work. You do not command by carrying every part yourself. You command by setting the intent, trusting your people with their pieces, and keeping your eyes on what only you can decide. When it all feels like too much, that is usually a sign you are gripping tasks that belong to others. Let them do their jobs. Your job is direction and judgment, not doing everything. Right now, take the mountain and cut it into the next three things that actually need you. Not thirty. Three. Handle those, then look up and find the next three. Command becomes possible when you stop staring at the whole and start moving through it in order. You do not have to hold it all. You just have to lead the next part.
