What does it mean to be a writer now that AI can write?
You trained for years to shape sentences, and now a machine drafts them in seconds. It is right to feel that under your ribs. But ask what a writer has really ever been. Not the fastest producer of words. The person who notices what others miss and finds language honest enough to carry it. That job is still open. The machine can imitate patterns it was fed. It cannot live a life and report back. It has no grief, no joy, no particular Tuesday it cannot forget. Your years did not just teach you to write. They taught you to see. That seeing is the part no one can generate for you. Choose one piece to write that only you could, drawn from something you actually lived. Do not race the machine on volume; you will lose and it does not matter. Write the thing with a fingerprint on it. That is what a writer is now, and it may be what a writer always was.
