What if fear of failure kept me playing small my whole career?
Looking back, you can see that a fear of failing kept you playing small, never quite reaching or risking, never finding out what you were capable of. And the safety you bought with all that caution is the very thing you now regret. That is a hard thing to see clearly, and it takes courage to admit. Be fair to the younger you, though. That caution was trying to protect you, and at the time it probably felt like wisdom. The regret you feel now is not a sign you are broken. It is a sign your values have grown, that you now prize living fully over staying safe. That growth is worth something. And the fear does not get to keep running the show. Whatever time is ahead of you, there is a reach you have not yet taken. Pick one small brave thing and do it this week, something the old caution would have talked you out of. You cannot rewrite the years you played small. You can decide they do not get the final say.
