What if I chased the wrong kind of success?
You went after the things you were told meant success, the money, the title, the status, and you got there, only to find you had been measuring by the wrong ruler the whole time. From the outside the career looks right. From the inside it feels wrong. And the realisation came later than you would have liked. That is a heavy thing to carry. But consider what this actually means. You did not fail. You succeeded at the wrong game, which is different, and far more fixable, than failing at the right one. You have the discipline and the ability to build something, that is proven. What was missing was not capability. It was aim. And aim can be changed, even now, even late. So ask yourself the question you skipped the first time. What would make the work feel right from the inside? Not impressive, not enviable, but genuinely worthwhile to you. Then take one small step toward it. You do not have to throw away what you built. You get to redirect the same strength toward a metric that is actually yours.
