What if I picked a safe career that feels hollow now?

You chose this path for safety and practicality, back when that made complete sense. By some measures it has been good — steady, respectable, secure. By others it has felt hollow. And you have never gone back to look at that original decision with the eyes of the person you are now. You just kept living inside it. That younger choice was not a mistake. Stability is a real value, and choosing it was likely wise for who you were and what you needed then. But you are allowed to revisit it. The person who made that decision had different fears and fewer resources than you have today. You are not bound forever by their reasoning. Sit down and ask, honestly, what you would choose now, knowing what you know. You may find you would choose the same thing, and feel new peace in it. Or you may find a small adjustment you have been afraid to name. Either way, choosing it again on purpose beats simply inheriting it.
