Who mentors the person everyone else leans on?

You can shape a young person's whole path, and so everyone leans on you. But you carry a quiet loneliness underneath it: you pour into everyone, and no one is pouring into you. Having no mentor of your own, while being everyone else's, is a real and often unspoken ache. It helps to see that needing guidance never stops being true, no matter how much you give. The teacher still needs teaching. Being the one others rely on does not make you finished or self-sufficient. It just means your own need has gone unattended while you attended to theirs. So go find it, because it will not come knocking on the person who seems to have it all handled. Reach out to someone whose wisdom you respect, older or simply different, and ask honestly for their counsel on something you are wrestling with. You are allowed to be mentored while you mentor. The well that gives to everyone deserves to be filled too.
