Why am I so scared to perform a procedure on my own?

The fear makes sense. When you assist, someone else holds the final responsibility. When it is your hands alone, there is no one to catch a mistake but you. That weight is real, and feeling it means you understand what is at stake. A person who felt nothing here would worry me more than you do. Fear like this shrinks when you break the leap into smaller steps. You do not go from assisting to leading everything at once. Take one part of one procedure that you know cold, and own that part fully with someone experienced beside you. Confidence is built, not summoned. Each small piece you carry alone becomes proof you can carry the next. Remember that the surgeons you admire were once exactly where you are. None of them started sure. They started scared and did the work anyway, and the doing is what changed them. Let your hands learn what your mind already knows. The terror will not vanish, but it will become something you can act through.
