Why do I only accept feedback that agrees with my plan?
Feedback that says "keep going" feels great and you take it in gladly. Feedback that says "you may be on the wrong road" gets a polite nod and nothing more. You are open to being encouraged, not to being redirected. That is a comfortable trap. The feedback you resist most is often the feedback you need most. Confirmation feels good but teaches you little. A real course correction is uncomfortable precisely because it asks you to let go of something you have already invested in. That discomfort is information, not an insult. The next time advice suggests a bigger change, do not decide right away. Sit with it for a day and ask, "What if they are right?" Follow that question honestly before you dismiss it. Staying the course should be a choice, not a reflex.
