Why does every sales rejection feel so personal?
Every no lands like it is about you, and your whole mood rides on the last yes or no you heard. That is exhausting, and it is more common in sales than anyone admits. When your work is talking to people and asking for a yes, it is natural to feel their rejection as a rejection of you. But it rarely is. Most of the time, the no has almost nothing to do with you. It is budget, timing, someone having a bad day, a need that is not there yet. You are one small factor in a decision full of things you cannot see or control. Taking it personally gives a stranger's circumstances the power to set your whole day. That is too much power to hand over. Try to build a small gap between the outcome and your worth. After each call, name one thing you did well in it, regardless of the answer. Judge yourself on how you worked, not on their yes or no. Do that consistently and the rejections stop running your moods, because your ground stops depending on them.
