Why does my creative work matter?

You make something out of nothing and it moves people. That's a strange and real power, and it makes sense that you'd start asking what it's for. The question isn't a crisis. It's a sign the work is growing up. Art doesn't need to justify itself the way a machine does. What it does is quieter. It gives people a place to feel what they couldn't say, a moment where they aren't alone. That's not small. You may never see it happen, but it happens. Instead of chasing one big answer, watch for the small evidence. Next time someone tells you a piece reached them, don't wave it off. Write down what they said.
