Why does no one notice how hard I work behind the scenes?

You pour attention and effort into making things feel easy for guests, and the whole point is that they never see it. So you live in a strange place: the better you do your job, the more invisible your work becomes. It is natural to feel unseen. You designed the invisibility, and it still stings. But consider what that invisibility actually means. The seamless evening, the guest who relaxed without knowing why, that ease was your doing. Recognition and worth are not the same thing. A thing can matter enormously and go unwitnessed. The value did not depend on their applause. Since the guests won't see it, let one person who understands see it, even if that person is you. At the end of a shift, name one thing you made smooth that no one thanked you for. You are not fishing for praise. You are refusing to let good work disappear just because it was quiet.
