Why does the algorithm decide if anyone sees my work?

It feels cruel that a system you can't see decides whether your work ever reaches anyone. You pour yourself into something and then hand it to a black box that shrugs. That helplessness is real, and it's one of the hardest parts of making things in this era. But the algorithm is less of a mystery than it feels. It isn't judging your worth. It's guessing what people will engage with, based on what they've engaged with before. That means it's not really the algorithm deciding, it's an imperfect echo of what audiences respond to. You can't control the machine, but you can learn what your actual people respond to, and that you can influence. Stop trying to crack the code and start watching your own audience. Which of your posts made real people stop, respond, share? Do more of what genuinely connects, less of what you hoped might trick the system. The algorithm will always be partly out of reach. The connection with your people never has to be.
