What role does physical health and body awareness play in conception?
Your body isn't separate from your mind or spirit—it's the primary instrument of your life, and conception involves the whole system working together. Physical health matters profoundly, but perhaps not in the way you've been told. I don't mean optimizing through restriction or perfectionism. I mean genuine attunement to what your particular body needs right now. This might be better sleep. It might be movement that brings joy instead of exhaustion. It might be nourishment that feels warm and sustaining rather than punitive or calculated. What I've observed is that bodies trying to conceive benefit most from practices that restore balance rather than push harder. This includes attention to your menstrual cycle, understanding your body's actual signals rather than the cultural story about your body, and addressing persistent pain or disconnection. If you carry tension, grief, or trauma in your body, healing work—whether through somatic therapy, yoga, or other practices—can genuinely shift the conditions. Physical health for fertility isn't about becoming a perfect vessel. It's about becoming more inhabitable, more at home in yourself. When your body feels like a place you belong rather than a project to fix, everything shifts. This is where the real healing begins.
