Why do I feel bored or stuck with activities I used to love doing?
When something that once lit you up suddenly feels flat, you're often not losing the hobby—you're outgrowing it, or the context has shifted in ways you haven't acknowledged. Sometimes this is natural. You learned what that activity had to teach you. The novelty wore off. This isn't failure; it's maturation. A hobby served its purpose, and now something else is calling. But sometimes the activity itself is fine; the conditions changed. You used to paint with a friend who moved away. You cycled to escape a stressful job, but now you work from home. The activity became tangled with something else—social connection, identity, escape—and when that shifted, so did the meaning. Before abandoning it, I'd ask: *What did I love about this?* The doing, or what it represented? If it's the doing, can you approach it differently—a new style, a new group, a new time in your life? If it's what it meant, that's worth grieving, and you might need something new to fill that purpose. Sometimes boredom is also depression or fatigue wearing a disguise. If *everything* feels flat, that's different work. But if it's just this one thing, trust that you're ready to explore something that meets who you're becoming.
