How does body awareness connect to mental clarity and better decision making?
Patanjali's entire system rests on this: the mind doesn't float above the body. It's woven through it. When you ignore what your body is telling you—tension, restlessness, ease, groundedness—you're making decisions from only half the information available. Think of a decision you've regretted. Beneath the logical arguments for it, what was your body saying? Did your chest tighten? Did you feel small? Most of us override those signals in favor of what sounds reasonable. That's the trap. Body awareness reverses this. As you practice noticing sensation—where you hold stress, where you feel resourced, how your breath responds to different thoughts—you develop what feels like intuition but is actually integration. Your whole self is speaking. When you're grounded in your body, your mind settles naturally. Not because you forced calm, but because you're no longer fragmenting yourself. You think more clearly because you're thinking from a coherent place. Decisions made from that state tend to align with what actually matters to you, not what you think should matter. Start noticing: before big decisions, pause and check in. What does your body know?
