About This Journey

Deep reading — sustained, attentive engagement with a text that allows its full complexity to emerge — is a cognitively demanding practice distinct from the skimming and scanning that digital environments have normalized. The Sutras' own transmission rests on the practice of pāṭha (recitation) and manana (deep reflection), recognizing that a text yields different levels of meaning depending on the depth of attention brought to it. Reading deeply is a form of dhāraṇā: the sustained, focused contact that transforms information into understanding.
