Taoism embraces emptiness, or kong, as fundamental to existence: the empty space in a cup holds the water; emptiness gives form meaning. Digital pornography, by contrast, offers structured emptiness: content stripped of narrative, consequence, relationship, and character growth. This hollowed-out format maximizes arousal efficiency while minimizing cognitive engagement that might trigger reflection or resistance. Platforms deliberately remove complexity that might slow engagement or create ethical friction. Laozi understood that true satisfaction comes from fullness—deep human connection, meaningful relationships, embodied presence. Pornography offers the opposite: intense stimulation wrapped in fundamental emptiness. This concept helps users recognize what they're actually consuming: not erotica with narrative depth or human complexity, but engineered stimulation in an empty space. Understanding this emptiness—that what you're engaging with lacks the fullness human sexuality requires—naturally creates space for choosing alternatives that offer genuine connection and complexity. The emptiness isn't accidental; it's core to the business model.
