Following the Energy Current

Detecting and riding existing energy flows redirects procrastination into forward motion.

Laozi
Why It Matters

Taoist navigation teaches reading flows: how water moves, where wind patterns lead, where qi naturally circulates. Applied to procrastination, this means noticing where your energy wants to go. Often we procrastinate on Task A while naturally gravitating toward Task B. Rather than rigid priority lists, Laozi suggests working with actual energy currents. This doesn't mean avoiding difficulty; it means sequencing wisely. If you're avoiding a hard conversation but energized about a creative project, sometimes completing the energized work first generates momentum and confidence for the difficult task. Energy is real and finite. By following where it naturally flows rather than constantly swimming upstream, you build sustainable productivity. The paradox: respecting your procrastination sometimes accelerates overall progress.
