Cities publishing air quality data allow citizens and companies to optimize behavior. Agricultural networks sharing soil data improve practices faster than isolated farmers. However, qi flow includes privacy: personal data shouldn't circulate freely, just as privacy enables health in organisms. The principle means distinguishing shareable systemic data from personal information, using encryption and access controls, and giving users control over their data. Sustainable technology requires this balance: friction-free data movement for collective problems, strong privacy boundaries for individual autonomy. When information flows rightly, problems become visible, solutions emerge, and communities align toward sustainability.
