The unforced way avoids both extremes: complete restriction and unlimited access. Instead, it creates conditions where children gradually encounter digital challenges, make mistakes in relatively safe environments, and build competency through real stakes and natural consequences. This means sometimes stepping back from protective instinct, allowing children to experience the natural friction that teaches discernment. A teen who experiences social media drama learns more about digital citizenship than one sheltered from it entirely. The Taoist approach trusts children's intelligence and resilience while providing thoughtful guidance rather than hovering control or abdication of responsibility.
