Creating trusted communities of witness who mirror back your patterns and support your boundaries when isolation threatens to erode them.
Mirabai found refuge in sangha—communities of other bhaktas who understood her devotion and supported her choices. She was never entirely alone in her refusal. When you attempt to maintain boundaries in isolation, they erode. A partner or family system can gradually convince you that your no was really a yes, that your limits were selfish, that you were wrong to leave. Community witnesses your truth and holds it when you forget. Trusted friends reflect back what they see: Is he really changed, or are you explaining away the same behavior? Are you authentically happy, or performing happiness? Do your boundaries feel like home, or like constant compromise? Mirabai's community validated her unusual path. They did not pressure her to reconcile or conform. Your boundaries strengthen when witnessed and honored by people who love your wholeness, not your accommodation.
