Raag as Emotional Frequency Tuning

Using the classical Indian musical system (raag) as a framework for matching and moving through different emotional frequencies on trigger dates.

Why It Matters

Raag—the melodic framework in Indian classical music—is built on the principle that certain note sequences naturally evoke specific emotional and spiritual states. Mirabai composed and sang raags associated with longing, separation, and reunion; these weren't arbitrary but were understood to attune the nervous system and heart to particular frequencies. Applied to grief anniversaries, this concept suggests that your emotional state on triggering dates has a natural 'note' or frequency. Rather than fighting that note, you can acknowledge it: Today I'm in the raag of separation. Today I'm in the raag of remembering. From there, you can consciously choose musical, poetic, or movement practices that either hold you in that frequency (for honoring and releasing) or gradually shift you toward another (from lament to gratitude). This framework validates that grief has architecture and natural progressions.
